Artwork from the 1983 zine ‘Broken Images’ by Beverly Sutherland. The artwork is by Ann M. Crouch, Merle Decker, Connie R. Faddis, and Signe Landon.

This is a K/S slash zine set in a mirror universe (not the mirror universe) where Spock is captain and Kirk is his subordinate. It’s a damn good read.

I’m OCRing and editing this zine into Word from a pdf that a marvellous person sent me. When I’ve finished I’ll upload the Word document and ebook versions onto my facebook page.

Some of these images are from the fanlore page, since the photocopy isn’t a great one and some of the images aren’t in the zine - I have no idea why.

I think it would be great if there were some kind of united effort to get zines scanned in, converted, and uploaded to share, since so many are hard to get. Fanfiction should be available freely to fans.

This is part two of a two part post.

There is a concerted effort to get some of the old Trek fanzine fic online. Catalenamarais working with fan authors to get their stories scanned and OCR-ed and uploaded to the K/S Archive. You can access the fic here: http://ksarchive.com.   In fact, Broken Mirrors may be one of the novels that is scheduled to be put up. Catalenamara is always looking for people to help scan the zines, convert them to editable text and/or proofread the text.  You can reach Catalenamara via Livejournal: http://catalenamara.livejournal.com/

There is a larger, more formal zine preservation project underway at Texas A&M University. Right now online access is restricted to onsite visitors or university members, but they do hope one day to offer wider access. Until then, the focus is on digitizing and preserving the zines.  More here.
