I have been asked (OK dragged) into helping document more of Blake’s 7 history on Fanlore. In my Internet searching, I found this lovely bit of fandom history: a TV news report about one of the early Blake’s 7 conventions in the UK. It was held in 1986 and the reporters interview a few fans, one of them Ann O'Neill who helped organize the event. You can see it here.
