I know a couple popular vld blogs that were already deleted

So lemme get this straight…
Tumblr @staff refused for months to do anything about the porn bots that were spamming people’s posts and being general nuisances
But now have no problem deleting real actual people’s blogs? Honestly, let’s talk about how fucked up it is that tumblr advertises itself as a place where anyone can post their content and express their creativity, and then turns on it’s content creators.
Really, who wants to be on a website that punishes people for drawing nsfw or adult content
What pisses me off most isn’t that they waited months to do anything, but that it took getting deplatformed by the major app stores before they tried the laziest method of clean shit up.
And again, just like Strikethrough 2007, the bots will figure out another way in and most of the purged accounts will be gone forever, because if they were too lazy to keep up with a problem that fucked up the site useability, what are the chances they’ll care enough to review every single complain? They haven’t even been doing that for all the bitchbaby antis that were mass reporting accounts way before this.
Jesus. It really is another strikethrough.
All I can say is: Link multiple types of social media together. AO3 doesn’t have private messaging and won’t any time soon, but it does have profile pages on accounts. You can use those to list contact info or links to different social media.
It’s hard with casual tumblr acquaintances, but if you have closer friends, get some kind of proper contact info like an email. That way, you won’t automatically lose touch with them if your account gets deleted.

It’s the nickname for when Livejournal deleted a bunch of accounts. (The account names would

Livejournal tried to clean up their site and deleted a lot of fandom communities (which was where people were posting fic at the time, rather than archives, so that meant fic disappeared). They also deleted survivor support groups, etc. I’m sure they caught a few accounts they actually wanted to, but mostly, they pissed off their user base. AO3 had just been proposed. Strikethrough made it even more instantly attractive to even more fans.
It sounds like Tumblr had a much more significant level of actual child porn content. The similarity is that both sites wanted to clean up actually bad stuff and deleted a bunch of fandom stuff by mistake.
I don’t think this means Tumblr wants us gone. I do think we’ve seen this pattern before, and it means there are bigger and worse problems to come.
