I would take a harder stance on Problematic ™ fanfic and fanart if I wasn’t old enough to remember Strikethrough, when people declared stuff to be problematic and deleted it off LiveJournal pretty much at will. Or if I didn’t ship an unpopular het pairing (BuckyNat) that often gets slammed for being homophobic because it’s a rival to a popular slash pairing (Stucky).
The thing is, when you start cracking down on the bad stuff, the good stuff tends to go with it, and you wind up with fan communities so sanitized that they basically die out because nothing interesting can get written.
