“Some archives have out-and-out banned certain kinds of fanworks.
Other fanworks have been discouraged and disparaged (with varying degrees of strength and success), depending upon the climate of the time.

I have vague memories of hearing about archives that only allow specific characters “topping,” but no details come to mind. Certainly there have been plenty of LJ communities that restricted fic based on characterization, but those were never intended as “post all your fic here!” places.
Scat is often banned, and rarely winds up on lists like these because most of us (me included) have no interest in it. But that does related to specific kinks or actions being banned - and of course, a lot of those bans fall under “other objectionable material” and nobody’s willing to say in advance what they are.
There are archives that will reject/remove fics with threesomes, especially threesomes that involve the mods’ favorite pairing(s). I haven’t heard of any that specifically ban relationships of more than two characters, but I pretty much stopped reading archive rules when AO3 went live.
