Fan-Fic Genre Pic ‘Slash’ Acquired By Gravitas Ventures Ahead Of Comic-Con Panel
This sounds like it could be really cute, or really awful.
Anyone know anything about this? I’m curious.
It confuses me that it seems to be about a teen cis boy and a teen cis girl getting together via fanfic. I’ve been in fandom for almost 9 years now, and I’ve seen a lot of lesbians and bisexual women get together with each other after first meeting in fandom, and a lot of queer couples get together, but cis men writing fanfic are incredibly rare in general in fanfic writing communities, and that I know of I don’t think I’ve ever met or even heard of a cis man and a cis woman hooking up via fanfic? And let’s be clear here, I’ve been in a ton of fandoms over the past 9 years or so, all over, various sites. It’s not like I’ve stuck with one or two fandoms. I mean I’m sure there’s some out there, but not to the degree that lesbians, bisexual women, and queer couples get together via fanfic.
It just seems like a very rare story to focus on for a movie about fanfiction and fanfic writers. The trailer smacks of Manic Pixie Dream Girl tropes too, unfortunately.
