george lucas literally never said that and is super liberal

wesleyknope:

in the 70s and 80s star wars fanzines got sued for copyright infringement when they printed fanfiction/fanart and han/luke stories were classified as porn even if they contained no porn bc lucasfilm defined anything gay as porn

source: @reyton made a post with this link http://fanlore.org/wiki/Han/Luke and i read it even though i don’t ship han/luke because i will do anything to avoid doing math homework

he might have changed his mind in recent years i couldn’t find anything about it though

The Fanlore article is a good start.  No fan writers were sued by Lucas in the 1970s or 1980s. Several fanzine publishers did receive a letter from the president of his fan club that basically stomped on gay themes and het fic that was more than PG13. The fan club president did - after much protesting - allow one story to be published that had two original characters (Imperial Officers) who were gay but it was very non-explicit. By the time The Phantom Menace came out the Internet existed and Lucasfilm’s hold on fanfic weakened so that lots and lots of slash was written. And a small group of fans did publish Han/Luke fanfic also with no Lucasfilm reaction.  As a side note Lucas no longer own Star Wars - Disney does.
